Last Thursday, the 4x400m group which has been in Iceland with Alain Hubert for a special psychological training came back in Belgium. According to the athletes, it was a quite difficult but also a very profitable experience.

On 5 October, Unicef Belgium has launched an important educational campain 'Apprendre pour Survivre' / 'Learn to Survive' in order to increase public and government awareness about the fact that very often after or even during a humanitarian crisis, a lot of children can not go to shool.

This week, I am leaving for Iceland with nine belgian 4x400m athletes -included the famous Borlée brothers. The target of the operation : to help the athletes to form a strong team capable to be on the podium of the 4x400 m in the London Olympics.

If no improvement in the overall food security conditions takes place before early 2012, the already severe nutrition situation will likely worsen further. UNICEF has called for an immediate expansion of assistance across the Horn of Africa where half a million are at imminent risk of dying.
