Saturday 5th December, join the growing Climate Wave. Brussels, 25th November 2009: International negotiations on the climate will be reaching a decisive turning point this coming 7th to 18th December. If these talks do not result in a solid agreement, it will not be just the environment that will suffer the consequences, but entire human populations. Business and social circles will be affected, too. Which is why the Copenhagen agreement is everybody’s business. With thousands of people in the heart of Europe demanding a proper and effective response to global warming, the people of Belgium are taking up the challenge...

The Climate Coalition invites everyone to express their desire to see our political decision-makers negotiate a binding agreement that is both in line with the warnings given by scientists, while at the same time protective of the balance between North and South. The Climate Wave will bring this appeal to life.

The march will take place symbolically around the various European institutions in Brussels and will feature major national and European political statements. A number of leading personalities have agreed to take part in this event, which will begin at 2.00 pm at the Place du Luxembourg, in Brussels. An exhibition of photos by Karl Deckers provides an unusual and eye-catching start to the route, giving a symbolic reminder of the fact that it is children in the South who are likely to be the first victims of our idleness on this issue.

As a reminder, the Climate Coalition brings together over 70 associations operating in Belgium in areas as diverse as the environment, North-South relations, the unions, the Council of Women and the League for the Protection of Birds.
