Throughout my career as a polar explorer, I've been lucky enough to be able to see beautiful landscapes, meet incredible people and live extraordinary adventures.

I've tried to capture these moments on film (in some cases I've been accompanied by a professional photographer) and I'd like to share some of these with you. Enjoy!

  • 23 December 2011 : 9 Germans and 8 IPF team members are landing after a 4 days waiting in Cape Town.

    The second part of the BELARE 2011-12 Season has begun

    With the almost miraculous arrival of new IPF team members at PEA (bad weather has forced the planes to stay on the ground for days), and the departure of some of those who came earlier, the second part of the season has begun.

  • Just a bit of 25-30 knots wind and all the snow came back right away in between the solar panels.

    Here are some pictures I took randomly about some of our moments of the daily life at PEA Utsteinen. I also wanted to show everyone how the station looks when we have bad weather here in Utsteinen.

  • We left the PEA station on Thursday 1 December under a glorious sunshine : we had 220 km to drive. It took us 12 hours to get to the place of our main basecamp.

    Our first scientific mission : travelling to the coast for the Belissima Project

    On Thursday 1 December, a team of five including myself left the PEA station to travel to the coast for the ULB Belissima Project. Although we had three days of horrid weather, the mission was a success.

    Hubert and his team of 10 arrived at Utsteinen on 16 November 2011 to reopen the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica belgian station.
