Finally at the end of January the expedition comes to an end

  • During January 2001, they still had to install a weather station
  • Thanks once more to Compaq for this antarctic expedition
  • One has to find a suitable summit to install the station
  • Small excursions around have to be organised
  • Alain Hubert and some of his companions
  • There was also an educational project attached to this adventure
  • Young students from all over could ask questions to the expedition PR
  • Here are now some comments of the only woman of the expedition, the PR Kathelijne Van Heusekom :
  • Suspended in thin air, we make one summit after another
  • Finally at the end of January the expedition comes to an end
  • Some people return by air from Blue One to Cape Twon and then to their own homeland
  • René Robert and Alain Hubert take the DC3 to be air lifted to Sanae base
  • From South African research station Sanae, they have to walk by foot towards the german station of Neumayer
  • This 17 300 ton icebreaker Polarstern is operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremen
  • On Saturday February 24th, the expedition was back home
